On behalf of the Temuka Cricket Club I wish to extend a warm welcome to those past and present players, and their partners who are attending this club centennial.
I hope the functions arranged will give the opportunity to renew old acquaintances and recall some of the notable and humorous occasions that have occurred in the past years.
I trust the visitors will have an enjoyable return to Temuka and that the friendly and warm atmosphere that I am confident will filter through at all the functions will ensure a weekend that will be a memorable occasion for all of us present.

Foreward

A hundred years of anything deserves special recognition. Although cricket was first played in the Temuka area over a century ago, records show that the Temuka Cricket Club was not officially constituted until October, 1884.
Since those early days cricket has been a series of stop-start affairs in the town. Periods of strength and high interest have been followed regularly by times of recess. Like any town sports club, this is due not only to the shifting population, but also to changing socio-economic times. It is appropriate, then, that the club’s history be documented for its centenary.
It is very difficult, from the thin official records available, to give due credit to all past players and administrators of the sport. Be assured, however, that the endeavours of all past, and present, administrators and players, have been and still are, most fruitful. Cricket is in a healthy state in Temuka at present from schoolboy to senior level.
